I created a floral arrangement for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts responding to its nature as an encyclopedic institution. Composed of 12 arrangements to make one large-scale sculpture (roughly 7’ x 7’ x 4’), each is informed by a different modality from the histories of floral arranging.

Above is Medusa, a great California live oak that fell on a family member’s property during a lightning storm. I took this panorama of the horizontal trunk and colorized each of the seven sections with the colors of the original bags of coffee my friends roasted at Andytown Coffee Roasters in San Francisco. This print currently lives as a 21-foot landscape in their downtown cafe at 181 Fremont Street.
